I can, it still leaves me with chills looking at the savior of Rock Music! Standing there transfixed staring at the boob tube and for the first time in too long to remember, feeling like I was witness to a great musical moment! I didn't care what they called it! It was gritty and in your face in a way I hadn't heard sense "Dazed and Confused" by Led Zeppelin! It was good to feel that once again.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11227122535709941482noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8737677416563356050.post-61419320401792517482019-01-01T11:21:00.001-08:002019-01-01T11:21:29.614-08:00New Years Eve Shopping Fun!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11227122535709941482noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8737677416563356050.post-13600970153997286982018-06-23T17:19:00.000-07:002018-06-23T17:19:34.733-07:00Creepy Tim's Love Trap

Netflix has a true winner here with their new original movie, "Set It Up". Starring: Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell, Lucy Liu, and Taye Diggs. The writer Katie Silberman and Directer Claire Scanlon have created a wounderful RomCom that is a must see to view something new and trully entertaining!

OMG, I have not laughed as hard and often at a movie in too long. This short clip also has two other characters that just set this totally off; Leonard Ouzts as the UPS Guy and the scene stealer, Tituss Burgess as Creepy Tim!

Just great writting, directing, editing and of course acting! Get your but to Netflix and see it for yourself today! You will not be sorry!

"Where's Waldo?" It was in a lot of ways to me like life itself, always looking for what did not belonged, at least that's the way I would play the game! Burn Waldos' outline in my mind and scan those maps insearch for that shape... fun right!

On my way through time the game had taken on a differnt role in my mind... finding what didn't belonged took on different shapes and feelings. Not so much what could be easly seen maybe, but are there in scarry little ways that most today with their beady little eyes glued to devices that could very well be smater than they are that go unseen.

Now for some background; Los Angeles to my surprise being named the city of angeles has for itself many a fallen one now best decribed as madd, crazy, touched, or off their rockers. These fall into two general groups, those crack-heads, drunks, and the lost that heard that one could eat well on the Row who haunt the streets of downtown and those that live in the shadows of Hollywood. Now this latter group suffer manny of the same substance problems as the former group but bring an add quality hard to describe, a sertan... a je ne quoi that sets them head and shoulders above my beloved downtown verity!

Take 'Waldo' here, I was just out and about one sunny aternoon on a random Thursday heading home from shopping and... Wam! What does my eye spy but the cousin of "Leatherface" from "The Texas Chainsaw" or maybe the brother of the creepy guy from "The Hills Have Eye's", and the worst part was this sickening sinking feeling that he's out shopping too!! And no one seems to notice him but me and he has made me..! Come on buss, don't fail me now!! All you Yuppies, Guppies and Millennial Hipsters Puppies with those iPhones whatever are on your own! Just remeber, you may not get many bars on that device of yours from within a refrigerator!! What's that movie called again...? Oh yeah..."Get Out!!"
There's this ancient book full of wonderful insight which inclides this thought, "Sweet is the sleep of the one serving, whether he eats little or much, but the plenty belonging to the rich does not permit him to sleep." -Ec. 5:12. What I got twisted is that this applies not just to the rich but to both the rich and poor! It is not about the idea of 'rich' but this point of 'plenty', maybr better stated as more than I need at this moment!

Strang to recall the clearity gained coming to Los Angeles without anything that could be mistakenly seen as a plan and ending up two blocks east hanging out at the Metro Station homeless two weeks later! As these long days grew into longer nights, what became painfully plain was the less I dragged with me the better off I was. I still feel the pain of making many lesser forms of a "Sophie's Choice" of what would stay and what I would let go of, leave behind... forever.

At the heart of this problem are the thoughts, "could I, should I, would I". Without this understanding all we end up doing; rich or poor, is dragging things/stuff behind us all our days in one way or another... creating one of the greatest burdens for ourselves all by ourselves!

It seems also the fix is just as hard as it is easy, all we need to do is to let go... and simply walk away from it not looking back. Ok now, who wants to go first!!
Love this corner on my way to the downtown area Ralphs, where the fancy new, clean, and mostly young white demographic have moved in with a vengeance. It would be cool but for the coldness from this group!

Not really their fault truth be told, you might not know how it feels to have just about every homeless crack head hitting you up for a whole verity of thing at just about every stop... shell-shock to say the least. I mean it was never part of the campaign to get these young ones down here, "Live, Work, Play, Downtown LA" They just left out "Duck & Hide From the Homeless All Day!"

So how do we fix this! "I show don't know dude, can't you see that its all about me rite-now?" Now just maybe that's a bit too hard or maybe its our new standard. As "they" say, time will tell... it just feels like time is running out!
I made it a point to do things different than usual. One thing was to follow the large crowd of brothers as they where all walking around to other side of the pond, this is seen every time in Long Beach but never did I have the nerve to see where they all go. I left them at the hotel ( now I know for why they walk! ) and continued on I did to see what I would see and low and behold... the other side of the convention facility! mean what happened?! Standing at another ubiquitous bus stop waiting
on another ubiquitous bus and there it is... some young mans
ubiquitous underwear up in our faces... again! How can this be!!
Young men for as far back as I known or as records have been kept
have always wanted and did their best to look their best at all
times! So I mean... what happened?

This
clothing “style” actually has a name besides the one I use: “Pull
up your trousers you bone-head!!” According to the most trusted
source on the net, Wikipedia, they actually have a page about this
“style” and it has a name! Of all things, this is called sagging.
Just seems to miss a certain something that showing ones underwear in
public is lacking with the term sagging. Car doors sag... tree
branches with lots of snow on them sag, and less we forget, baby
diapers can sag when filled with that most important unspoken
ingredient that is truly missing with this lame name for a clothing
trend known as Sagging!

So
I ask you again... what happened? It reminds me of the second Back to
the Future movie where all the kids clothes were way to big, inside
out and just messy. Thinking then that the "future" I was
viewing on the big screen was so not cool, that it would never be!
Yeah right! I know, I know... I just can't help but ask... so what
happened!!

I have wondered this many a day! It couldn't be because of me, right?! (( This photo is called, "In Coming Call" )( https://www.flickr.com/photos/chrisborrel/page2/ )). Funny that this could ever be a thing for me you see because I so hate getting calls! It's not that I dislike those who call, not at all. But because of owning a non typically wired brain, to fully get what is being said to me I so need to see the person talking. To watch all the information transmitted, knowing they are doing it or otherwise is unimportant, from faces and untethered hands. I need to hear them with both ears, in full stereo twirling my head in small circles like some barn owl to pinpoint it all. That's if we need be talking.

Of late the love of writing is so satisfying in that both parties take time to compose their thoughts and really read deep what is being penned by the other. And doing so with out the use of text shorthand is all the more joyous because in many ways it is all still very new to me... Master in all things dyslexic.

So I wonder as I watch the world of people flowing around me stuck watching their hand held smart something or another why still no real communication... Why so much time could ever be spent just looking at the world without a comment, but for a smiley face here and there if even. No dialog, and I truly do not think it is because people do not have an opinion... I think that the fear that their opinion would be not "liked" is the real problem. It seems that to not agree on just about any topic these days is equal to all out thermonuclear global warfare! Really?! Even for the "big" issues facing this world for the most part have never been agreed on and will not be put right by us anyway... we keep getting in the way of the fix. But to stop communicating for fear of being thought of as The Worst ( politically incorrect ) or otherwise is the real tragedy... I mean because it is true, opinions are like Volkswagens... everyone has one. So go ahead, take yours out for a spin every once and awhile. If you avoid all the road hazards, remember all the safety rules, drive in a mannerly fashion and don't run out of fuel you may find that your little puttering around could be fun!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11227122535709941482noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8737677416563356050.post-77253208481303209592016-07-26T13:38:00.000-07:002016-07-26T13:38:59.850-07:00Shoot Andy Warhol...That's right... I said it. Not that I have a thing against the man per se, his art and times or any of it... Don't have a thing against the pop art movement either! He can sell cans of tomato soup until the cows come home for all I care, not my flare but not my bother either. Multicolored Norma Jeans'... why not?

But don't shoot him really, don't kill the messenger. It is with only one very famous quote of his that is, sad to say, very true that I have a problem with... "Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes." The list of persons unimportant from the view of many that this statement makes all their madness seem inescapably is my issue. Really? Just 15 minutes? I think not! Now maybe for the media that alerts everyone to the person or event it may seem like 15 minutes but trust me if you happen to live in or even near "ground zero", that 15 minutes can last for years!

"Kat Von D, also known as Katherine Von Drachenberg, is an American tattoo artist, model, musician, entrepreneur, and television personality" as quoted from Wikipedia... yadda, yadda, yadda! I don't care and had not a clue who she was from this rendition of her in this "cool" poster! Had to look her up looking at pictures of Vegan Club in Google images to find her... don't feel any different that I have. But for me the kicker was the statement in the red lettering... Not that she is stupid by any means, pretty shore she didn't put up this bad poster on "Taggers Rows" most loved building here in Los Angeles! And for that matter, none of the people placed in these posters one could call in anyway stupid if your or I know of them or not! For me the people whos' intelligence quotas are in question are the ones that created these eye sours thinking in some out-of-left-field-thinking ( or not! ) it was a smart thing to do! But how these two SO different things came together on this wall is for me the mind blower! Who'da thought?!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11227122535709941482noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8737677416563356050.post-42007045283640565762016-06-27T17:32:00.002-07:002016-06-27T17:32:54.269-07:00What We Think We See...<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">What we think we see could fill more books than the time it would take to read them. For me this was a frighting thing. Just about all that makes our world is based on what it is that we think we see. That's right, what we think we see!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I remember back in my high school science class when introduced to the notion that everything we see isn't at all what is there... I can still remember what it felt like trying to comprehend that idea and what it also felt like to have my mind slip into a more comfortable state of denial as it shut down!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The red we see from an apple is the one color that the apple isn't, that being red! It is the light reflected back out into the word, the one color that could not be absorbed by the skin of that apple! OK... so are you good with that so far?! So if you were to mix all the colors together but red, that would be the true color of the apple, it the apple is a red one that is! So what does it really look like? Ever see a color negative from an old film camera? That is what the world really looks like... without light that is. All the colors we see from objects around us are the colors that each object isn't, it is the color reflected back into the world and into our eyes and interpreted as that color because we just didn't know any better. Like seeing the sun rise and fall each and everyday in our sky and then later finding out that it doesn't move at all but we do! And the first thought was,"... I don't feel the earth moving?"
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">But that's not all! There's more! Even the orientation of what we think is up and down has been changed by our minds. The eye is a single lens device and therefor inverts all light that comes through the lens upside down onto the back of our eyes where are the rods and cones are. Our minds make the switch to right-side up to help keep us from losing our cookies when we walk and chew gum!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This image is a real one I took from down the street where I live, but has had all the colors removed to create what I like to call "The Mother and Kids"... her hair even looks organic, alive and flowing. And just for fun I will not tell you just what this is, after all, you would just see it totally different than what it really is!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11227122535709941482noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8737677416563356050.post-70325660924183810112016-06-24T16:42:00.000-07:002016-06-27T17:34:19.317-07:00A New Look<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">There is nothing like having a fresh set of eyes looking over something that you may have been staring at way too long to see what it is your missing. It is one of those wonders that show the limitations of our mother tongues, words cannot convey my love felt looking over the city of my birth! O<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">n a clear day I could<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> even make out the waters at Santa Monica from the helipad! So don't forget your cellphones with the great camera, put some sunblock on the kids, and make it a great day 1,000 feet over the city of LA!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11227122535709941482noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8737677416563356050.post-88045840284061026872016-06-23T14:56:00.000-07:002016-06-27T17:34:28.778-07:00The Face of Cool...<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Or better put... The Never Ending Changing Face of Cool... Oh My Goodness! It's like viewing the dying dance of that liquid terminator from Terminator II, the T-1000 in the pool of molten metal! That scene where liquid silver boy oscillated inside-out through his mouth over and over again trying to stay alive... now that was cool!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">But cool seems never the same through time at least to me, one who has never been called or who very well will never been called cool! I recall when to really, really be hip, with the times or "cool" one was called a hippie, or at least a "long haired gnome that needs to get off my grass!" Somehow unbeknown to me, this morphed into being punk if one was going to be "cool". And then that too changed into the preppy look somehow! But hold on, that's not all, there's more! Somehow the new cool then was punk or goth punk vampires of all things, and this was a "cool" look so I was told..." because it is cool you know, really, I sawed-it in a teen magazine!" Now if someone could please help me understand how that has in anyway led us to Hipsters I'd be much obliged! And being Nowhere Man myself I know that one or more styles have been missed in this collection... sorry about that.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Which brings us to "now", like silver liquid boy dying back in the movies, it seems that whatever elements that are, were or could be in anyway called "cool" are just crammed together like some 7th graders' failed attempt at collage. It is well known, that putting all of the same of any one thing together does not then create a better version for all that hard work. While in itself this is truly a matter of taste, to protesting that this new master piece is simply the best of the best by some is not in dispute here, not at all! Love whatever it is you feel you must and call it art if that feels right, create all the artwork you must because not doing so would be death for you because life would become meaningless! It just would be greatly appreciated if those who are in tune with the times, creators of the vibe of the day, those blessed with that innate quality of "cool" would find another venue to showcase these timeless works of modern art other than the dark sides of random buildings in differing states of decay. Or just maybe, that in itself is what's cool now?!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11227122535709941482noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8737677416563356050.post-52046010748589148362016-06-20T15:56:00.000-07:002016-06-27T17:34:43.748-07:00FroKnowsNoah Icon Design

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This is a design I came up with <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">fast <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">one day while following one of the guys working for Jared Polin on his photography website, Youtube, and Podcast endeavors. Noah Friedman a.k.a. "Stop Being Weird Noah!", "Make a Note Noah!", or maybe just about my favorite name he gets to tote on the weekly broadcast of the "RAW Talk" show, "Shut-up Noah!"
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">If you have never heard of FroKnowsPhoto.com or Jared Polin for that matter then this short line of introduction from his LinkedIn page will sum it up very nicely!: <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">"FroKnowsPhoto.com is a site dedicated to helping photographers of all skill levels to become better through fun and informative videos<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> and content." Couldn't say it better myself!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Noah is one of the minor major ( major minor? ) players on the show that adds a dimension to the show that cannot be found anywhere in the world thanks to the antics of Todd Wolfe; the "Joker" in this trio of major players with Stephen Eckert pulling off the Ed McMahon roll faithfully and Jared playing "Johnny Carson" <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">in this Bizarro World analogy<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">! You can checkout Noah's through-down here at: http://wordshop101.com. And just for fun, checkout RAW Talk too, but be prepared, no telling what you will hear coming out of their collected mouths!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Noah started a Instagram account and posted behind the scenes shots of the wacky goings on and used Jared Polin's distinctive logo for that account. I thought, "...hay, that's a great idea! But how's about a logo all his own in the flavor of Jareds?!" About two hours later this rough draft was born! So I posted it and haven't heard a word.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">My point is this, without a word from outside, the ones inside my head and heart are all still positive! It was great fun putting this together! It was fun trying to figure out how to send it and it felt wonderful to send it off! Every time I think that just maybe it would have been better somehow not to have anything to do with that nagging call to create this, looking at my idea before my eyes and not lost behind them makes me feel so much better!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11227122535709941482noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8737677416563356050.post-43600664820790656772016-06-19T23:47:00.000-07:002016-06-27T17:34:51.613-07:00Real Work<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">With all the updates to software today it is funny remembering that when I was but a boy we were told that one day with all the up coming improvements to our brave new world that it would create the much anticipated paperless office! It seems funny how no one ever said that hard labor would ever become a thing of the past!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11227122535709941482noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8737677416563356050.post-59744204363615826792016-06-18T12:08:00.002-07:002016-06-27T17:35:11.920-07:00Baby Girl<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Such a sad little creature, lost and alone... How many or our worlds baby girls live lives of quiet desperation I wounder? Just out and about yesterday when first I came across this creature maybe half a block earlier up the road but just couldn't take an image of her, it was so painful to think or to try to understand the feeling felt from her face.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">No one has to tell me just how much off from center I am for loving taking pictures of public phones that have been desecrated and/or just torn right out of the walls in our city. You may be able to make out the phone stand just to the back of this woman, I was framing that up when I noticed that she would be walking right into my shot... so I waited.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">It still fills me with much mix emotion when viewing this image... it is to me great and sad in such a way that shame is one of the many flavors taken away every time looking at it for me. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11227122535709941482noreply@blogger.com0
