Matt Granger's June Photography Competition - ENVIRONMENT

SLR Lounge has a part in their news letter that is titled: 7 Ways To Becoming More Confident As A Photographer... Point 7 was to enter photo contest, sound advice I feel and Matt Granger has a monthly contest with varying themes that have a very open ended feeling to them. Now grant you, it seems even-handed with the way he presents his contest at the start, but when it comes time to chose a winner, he seems to have a more feel-good corporate Instagramme taste to me... but at times he has been know to switch it up a bit and pick a photo right out the box! Plus as far as content, I think he has just about the best content for all things photography without a “R” or “M” rating!

To tell the truth, I don't feel I will ever win not just his contest but most of those that I see for the simple fact that if your vision isn't in line with the current “trend” in social media photos... your just pounding sand! And I feel that there is room for all forms of expression but algorithms don't work that way, got to follow those likes! But the critique that Matt gives to most of the images he presents, although not to my style or taste, is consistent sound observations, and not just what he feels he likes but for the most part what really works regardless of style.

SLR Lounge has contest too but man! Way to sweet for my taste, but they get a pass for being, for the most part a wedding photography sight... it just can not be helped... I would love to be the photographer for the devoice and custody battles that for way too many of the great starts in marriage end it in that sad predicament! Put together a Devoice Photo Album, you know for their friends and families to cherish for all the years to come!! ...Too dark? LOL! Just a thought!
